Dunsti reloaded!

He said me that “It was about time”. And it certainly was. Especially since I was instructed at the blenderconvention to make deadlines and to keep on motivating  (nagging) people in order to get things done! LOL j/k

However, here we go:

The bar “South Of Heaven”. This set will be seen just once, quite in the middle of the movie. It’s an illegal bar in the same street as Teybus house and, thus, a hideout for (more or less) shady people.

I am pretty glad that Dunsti keeps the 3D-section alive while I am still busy with screenwriting and script revision.

Just as always.

Things are doing fine. I am doing quite fine. Writing is a hell lot of fun and man I am so lucky to have a -team- of dedicated people to proof-read and lecture it.

Arvim is active again with vehicles and even the baby-dragon-stroller is done by him now. Gekko is into trees and natural materials and the way it looks like atm it will be very likely that I will be the 3D-scene as a rough draft first (no 2D-concepts this time)

As I said: I am doing fine. I am looking forward to see the raise of 2012. Will be a perfect dragon-year!

Well, I survived!

 I found the convention this time even more interesting then the con last year (lot’s of motion-capturing, motion-tracking and especially the talk of Ian Robert have been very very inspiring).

My own talk was (sortof) out of control but still went fine =)

 There where much more attendants as I expected (around 30) and many of them stayed even after the open the open stage started. I still feel flattered about that.

 Today I will start contacting those who have been kind enough to gave me their buisness cards and have shown some interest in the production. Then I will wait another 3-4 days before I actually start posting tasks again.

I will do that on two places: Right here on wordpress and on the forum. Yet I am not sure what kind of approach serves the project best (I do have my concerns that the forum is the right place to distribute projects and tasks)

 I’ve also been talking to technical people about the possibilities of bug-tracking, database related stuff etc.

Many of them pointed out how important it would be to implement a system of versiontracking/database-system, etc in order to keep track of the petabyte of incoming data.

 I have a few concerns about the sheer amount of data (after all this project has a core of one person) and the amount of work necessary in order to implement these structures but I will take everything into consideration. However the credo (yet) is: KISS. “Keep it simple stupid” and I will be sticking to it.

 For the time being I will keep on:

-Drawing shitloads. I want to enable Dominik to produce the soundtrack as soon and as efficient as possible.

-Contacting people

-Waiting for incoming contacts =)

It its quite some time ago…

since I posted anything regarding the charactermodells in “A Dragon Lovestory!”. There have been some improvements tough. In order to make them visible I am going to post here hi-res renderings of the current characters. In this case: Athena.

She didn’t have to many changes. I think she was the one character that started just with the right amount of knowledge about 3D-topology. So the few things I changed where just hunting bugs (weights) and minor changes in her proportions. Enjoy!

Check for yourself. You can zoom in and the feather/scale structure does not become too distorted. This is mostly done just by numeric values and just a little bit of combing. Imorgon becomes more and more the one he is supposed to be.

Yet (I think) is the best character-design I’ve ever did- walkcycle incoming.

It is quite some time ago since I wrote an actual article. Not just some extended blog-tweet.

So, what’s new?

A -lot-!

Production of the Feature for 2011 went quite nice (just below) and the reactons so far are quite encouraging. I’ve even been appointed to hold a talk at blenderconvention 2011. I am really looking forward to do that. The same way I look forward to meet all of these nice people again =)

Another -big- news is that I finally got a copy of the “Animator survival guide” (16-DVDs). Wooah. Not -quite- cheap but mooooooooreeeeee then wooooorth it (and I had a sponsor for it ;P).

This videocourse will change a -lot- in the upcoming production. For the first time ever I can say: Decent character animations is possible now. For the first time I get -some- formal training (virtual or not. I think it is -very- good). Expect to see some decent walkcyles in the near future.

Technically I get more and more into blender. Especially into particles. Right Now Shilouette/Imorgon gets -really- close (and closer) to the original concept of 2004.

I hope to see one or two of you people at Bconf!

Finally, we did it!

The first featurette for “A Dragon Lovestory” has been submitted to the

Suzanne Animation Festival

Of course the whole thing is all but professional but still I think few people might be positively surprised. As usual we do not expect much but just being on show there will be worth all the effort we putted into that piece. Fun!
